Mass Reclassification of expensed assets in R12.1.2
All of our asset categories were set up with wrong accounting values on them. Since the accounting values can't be changed without corrupting the data, we set up all new categories with correct accounting. When we're running Mass Reclassification in Assets to transfer all assets from the old category to the new, some categories are not transferring any assets. The affected categories do NOT have the capitalized flag checked because we expense the assets (under the dollar threshold for capitalization). However we still track the assets for control purposes. Think of items such as taser guns and iPads.
When an asset is set up in one of these "control" categories, the asset type defaults to "Expensed" because the Capitalize flag is turned off. Is that why Mass Reclassification won't move the assets from the old to new category? I guess there's no journal entry for Oracle to make so it doesn't take any action. If that's true, do you know of any way that we could transfer the assets from the "old" category to the "new" one? We would like to disable all former categories with wrong accounting on them.
