Custom Web SSO solution for Siebel Selfservice

Hi,

We have Siebel eSrevice 8.1.1.11 exposed over public network which is LDAP authenticated. Now we would like to have Web SSO solution so that a person logged into our other portal need not login again to use selfservice. We are aware that there are many third party products in the market. Funding and other factors are not allowing us to procure those products. Is there a way to code Custom Web SSO solution? Does siebel allow such custom solutions to interact and maintain sessions? If yes, are there any items to be taken care while developing custom solution?

It would be really great if someone can give insight if this is doable or Siebel restricts such kind of custom interactions.
