Shipment of Serialized Items- Minimal Scan required- Any Pointers

One of our client has a strong business requirement to track serial numbers for traceability back to the customer/sales order. 

Currently during their shipment process they need to scan thousands of items (Serialized) before they place them on to a pallet for shipping it out. It is a herculean task for the client.

What they are looking is to minimize the number of scans. Is there way in Oracle to achieve this.

They scan their products (serialized) and put them on to a box. Subsequently they place multiple boxes ( Say 10 boxes) into a pallet. And they move the pallet out.
