M[3,4,5]000 PSU issue? - look again, it may not be a fault!
Modular power supply units (PSU) are essential for operating modern computer systems in that they provide a system
with the voltages required to operate different components contained within.
These may range from CPUs, main memory DIMMs, IO, environmental control units like fans, disks, DVD and
tape drives and the like.
Converting the external AC voltage coming from the utility company to all the required voltages would be complex and inefficient
so in OPL servers the PSU will convert to an interim DC voltage which then is further reduced by internal DC-DC converters to the
required voltage for a specific component.
