R12.1.3 - Single vs Multiple Business Groups for Projects

We are on R12.1.3. We are debating whether to go with one single global business group or a business group per country or a business group per region (say by continents). We are using only Project Costing and Project Billing modules. Can you please let us know the implication of single vs multiple business groups for projects? How does it impact the project hierarchies?
