Cannot Validate or Execute any Calc Scripts in EAS

This is a new install on AIX with one Windows server for EPMA.  Have installed Essbase and EAS and other products 11.1.2.3.  In EAS console, am able to open and edit  outlines, load data, but cannot validate or execute any calc scripts.  The message is as follows:

Execute calculation script failed or Validate calculation script failed.  There is nothing in the log to indicate why it is failing.

Interestingly, I can execute the same calc just fine through Planning and Calc manger.  I was also able to use the MaxL editor in EAS and successfully run the script, it is just failing when I try to run or validate it in EAS console.  I have not seen this issue before, anyone have any ideas on this?
