setDomainEnv.sh vs. weblogic admin console for server start parameters

Hello,

We are in the process of installing OIM 11.1.2.2.1.  We have some question on whether or not we put our AdminServer memory arguments in the setDomainEnv.sh As follows. Versus putting them in the admin console server start parameters for the AdminServer.  We woudl like to do it in the console as with upgrades then this wont get blown away.  But when we make changes in either situation we are not seeing those values being passed in our .out files or logs.  Can anyone explain how these are both used and what is the best practice for setting these values?
