Segment attribute not inherited in code combination.

I have an account type of ownership on my account segment., we also have dynamic insertion turned on. Setting up a new Ledger  i entered into the retained earnings account field,  i got an Error "Your Retained earnings Account must be a balance sheet account".   I checked the code combinationatio table only to find out that.

the code combination was created with an 'E' type account not "O"

I have created several Ledgers in the same environment and this has never been an issue. Any idea why the code combination does not default to the accountype of the account segment (natural account) qualifier.
