GI & RDBMS installation backup

Hello,

We understand that GI home & RDBMS home (on a RAC setup) can be backed up using OS backup utilities like cp or tar or 3rd party tools e.g. netbackup. And, in case of failure, the backup can be simply restored. Any installation steps or running root.sh should NOT be required. Can somebody kindly confirm if the understanding is correct?

Also, should /opt/ORCLfmap (or its sub-directories/files) be backed up?
