ASM group out of space

Hello,

My environment is windows 2008 r2 running oracle 10.2.0.5 with asm disk groups exclusively.

My problem is that the asm disk group has no free space and the normal workload is reporting that it needs to extend the system tablespace.  My second problem is that I did not setup the ASM environment and I have no idea how to proceed.

Here is the message in the instance's alert log

Wed Jul 02 12:27:28 Eastern Daylight Time 2014

statement in resumable session 'SYS.FNMIKE22' was suspended due to

    ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 64 in tablespace SYSTEM

... followed by ...

Wed Jul 02 12:56:24 Eastern Daylight Time 2014
