Backup & Restore of the ODA

edited Jul 14, 2014 11:23AM in Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered

Someone asked a very good question on the RAC SIG the other day: what's the best way to back up the ODA compute nodes, for example to cope with corruption/failure of the OS in a single node? This was specifically not backing up the databases themselves, for which I assume everyone uses RMAN.

All my focus has been on VMs so I hadn't thought about how you'd back up bare metal hosts. What are the most common approaches/tools that work nicely with ODA? (I thought I saw a list of certified backup products for ODA on oracle.com once but can't seem to find anything now). How do you then test these backups?
