SD/OD System Creates a New OD instead of adding new lines to existing OD

I have been researching whether it is possible when adding lines to an SD to have the system add lines to an existing OD rather than having the system create a new OD.  I have been told by my superiors and by users that this would be incredibly helpful.  Currently it can be done with ST/OT, so we are not sure why it doesn't do it with SD/OD.

I found in the FAQ that this is how it is functionally designed because each line could have a different supplier.  So my question is if the new line has the same supplier as the original is there any way to have them added to the existing OD?
