Performance issues - Workflow Background process, Book order, picking

We just went live from 11.5.9 to R12.1.3.

Currently we are facing performance issues, specifically around the OM area. The workflow back background process is taking a very long time to complete and  it takes a very long time to book or pick release orders.

If you or anyone from your team has prior encountered similar issue and has any input / insights, it will be a great help.
