Service Request fields with Line Break

I have recently been working on an analytic report using a narrative implementing javascript to combine fields from multiple related objects.  One of the objects is the Service Request object.  One of the fields I am trying to use is the abstract field.  It seems that whenever a record where there is a line break within the field is passed to the script, the script refuses to execute.  I can see the data in the source code of the report page, but the related line is not being recorded in the results, and the variable I set up to catch
