How do I add a prefix or suffix to a numeric attribute for the standard item description in PIM?

We are trying to use PIM to generate descriptions for items. We have a requirement that numeric attirbutes have a prefix or suffix added in the description.  For example  I have a numeric attribute for the inside diameter of a bearing.  In PIM I have set this up as a numeric attribute with a unit of measure of inch.  In the standard description we would like it to show 'ID 1 In' for 'inside diameter 1 inch'.  I was hoping there would be some sort of setup that I don't know about and we would not have to handle this
