COGS is zero

We have a ship only order line and is having fulfillment set attached.  Line is shipped and is in Awaiting Fulfillment status.  Then user created an RMA line for this sales order line and is received and returned to vendor.

So the RMA line is closed.  Now, when the fulfillment set on the original so line is released the line on original SO changed to closed status.  System generated a COGS event, but the amount is 0.  Is this due to the line is returned?

Please suggest.  Will the RMA line generate any COGS event?  We are unable to find COGS event for RMA line.
