Can a Subledger be corrected after an entry is posted?

Our accounting department wants to start tracking certain Voucher Expenses back to product development costs for a customer's product so I had suggested the SubLedger and Type in the fold of the Voucher Distribution Entry. They are aware of the possible incorrect entry of the customer number since there is no search capabilities or required entry on the SubLedger field, so they asked can the Subledger field be corrected after the entry is posted and paid? I wanted to ask would a simple repost of the transactions correct the SubLedger balance without affecting the total account balance for the specific
