In standard voucher entry the system allows batch date to be out in future

In standard voucher entry the system allows batch date to be out in future without giving any warnings. Is there a way to force the system to defaults tody's date for a batch or at least give a warning that you are in the future. We have an incident where the GL date is 04/24/2014 but the batch date is 04/30/2015 which is a red flag for auditors.

What would be the reasons you would want to type in a batch date and not let the system default in today's date?
