VirtualBox ASM disks not recognized

in Oracle VM (OVM) (MOSC) Question

I installed VirtualBox 4.3.12 on CentOS 6.5 and on my guest CentOS 5.10 image, I have created two ASM disks from /dev/sd* devices.  Both disk appear in "oracleasm listdisks" and I added them to udev to make sure they appear on reboot, but I cannot see them in v$asm_disk, so I am unable to create a disk group.  Has anyone seen this and have any suggestions?  I know that CentOS isn't a supported OS and I can't find anything on MOS about this issue for non-virtualized environments, so it may be something I can't work around.

[root@testdb1 ~]# oracleasm listdisks
