Using Z Interface for uploading Equipment Master Records

Hi All, I have a Q. We are looking at uploading some 1000 odd equipment master records @ a client who are implementing Equipment Maintenance but are on JDE already since last 6 months with a few modules, including Fixed Assets. Just wanted to understand the possibility of using interoperability functionality for the same. Could you please give me some details about the same? Also, for my understanding, if a Z interface exists, will it attempt to create Asset Master records for the equipment master records being uploaded?
