Can we update a wrong serial for Advance Exchange repair type

Hello,

Want to check if it is possible to update a serial number for Advance Exchange scenario.

Create a SR/RO/RMA for  Serial #123  (defective unit customer is going to send).

In our business case, we ship a replacement item first and then receive the defective unit, repair and stock it. So the repair type is of type Advance Exchange.

So first a replacement unit of Serial # XYZ1     is shipped to the customer.

Then customer send in the defective unit. When the unit received at Depot, found that serial # is 345.  On checking with customer found that correct serial # is 345 and not serial # 123. Customer gave a wrong serial # when SR/RO was created.
