In XE item that is zero qty and $ posts to GL but not in 9.0

When we run through sales update and post zero qty and $ items act differently in XE than 9.0- Please explain

Can you confirm that we would not post a transaction to the GL for zero quantity and zero dollars?  We seem to be missing the corresponding inventory transaction.
