Keep multiple AP period open

Hello Team,

Could you suggest me pros and cons of keeping the multiple AP periods open in order to reconcile payment  happening immediate before month-end and getting reconcile in next period. I have not seen any business keeping two period open at the same time. However I have to present business what are the pros and cons of it.
