Use work order for a purchase (Stock type P) item?

We normally buy this item (stock type P) but as an one-time exception we want to create a work order /BOM to make this item ourself. Is there any potential issue on costing and manufacting accounting etc? for example Do we need to roll the cost on this item or any down stream issue we should be aware of?
