Promotion Group addition in non UI context

Hi Gurus,

We have a business requirement as part of which we need to add Promotion Group in a non UI context through a script or a workflow that should in turn lead to addition of membership products as well as rewards. We have tried multiple options such as simple eScript based addition, using RCOIS with creating a session, addition a promotion group etc but to no luck. The behavior of Promotion Group is working perfectly fine if directly added from UI

Is this an issue that someone has faced in the past and do you know if addition of Promotion Group in a non UI context is even supported? Kindly suggest
