How to find out who linked Opportunity to Custom 1 object?

I have this problem.  I have a custom object 1 record that is tied to 2 different Opportunities A and B via the Opportunity Name field.  But only 1 of the Opportunities (A) is the right one.  Right now when I go to this Custom Object 1 record and click on the Opportunity link then it will go to Opportunity A which is the correct one.  I tried to find out how Opportunity B was connected to this Custom Object 1 in the first place. 

I looked at the Modified External field of the Opportunity B.  But this field will be overwritten the next time if someone makes any changes to the Opportunity B so it's not reliable?
