Student Administration Intregration Pack(SAIP) required use LIS 2.0 Webservices enable Event Trigger

In order to use the event driven triggered messages within Student Administration Intregration Pack(SAIP) is it required to use the LIS 2.0 Webservices?  We are using Snaphots but the LIS Version is 1.5.  There is a box to enable Event Triggers within the Target Setup which allows selection of all the different LIS versions.
