Data collection-LID tables and purge profile

Hello,

I've a question about the _LID tables that are used during Data collection process.

1) What is the role of these tables and how does it affect if these are purged everytime data collection is run.

2) MSC: Purge Staging and Entity Key Translation Tables . There is some conflicting information out there about using this profile. Few notes recommend to set this profile to No,while the profile matrix

                                                                                       recommends to set it to Yes,to improve performance.

Appreciate more details on this.  Thanks !
