How to recover reporting database from backup

Hi Experts,

I have a production 2 node RAC, and our resigned DBA built a single node reporting database from this production database and it is always in read only mode,

everyday after EOD we copied the archives from the production and we mount the database and restore it then we open it again in readonly mode.

this is same as DG but we don't have license for DG and we do it manually.

my question is: yesterday for some reasons the archives are not available, so we need to take a full backup from the production?

what is the procedure, is it just backup the db then catalog it and then restore it to the reporting , or should I take the control file first or any step missing?

Howdy, Stranger!
