Mandatory fields in BWC with default values

One of the mandatory fields while creating a PO in Lines is 'Category'. In core forms no value defaults for this field but in buyer work center (BWC), a default value populates. This value is based on the value that is set in the Category Assignment form. Do we have a way not to default the value in BWC just like in core forms?
