How to properly unconfigure iSCSI LUN(s) on the initiator

What is the best and safest way to unconfigure a iSCSI LUN on a iSCSI initiator before removing it on the target ? I know of luxadm offline followed by cfgadm -c unconfigure for DAS devices, but this is understandably not a viable path to follow regarding iSCSI disk deletion
