Patching Oracle Linux 5.7 for Oracle Installation

edited Aug 31, 2014 5:00AM in Linux Operating System (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered

Hi everyone,

We all know if the Linux is connected to the internet and we run it we will get this:

# yum install oracle-validated

You should see output indicating that you have subscribed to the
Oracle Linux channel, and that packages are being installed. For
example:

el5_u6_i386_base
el5_u6_x86_64_patch

What does el5_u6_x86_64_patch do?

And for whatever reason your server can't connect to the internet but you do have oracle linux 5.7 server iso, is the patch on it?

how do i find if the OL 5.7 already patched?

and if not, how do i do this update patching manually and offline?

Howdy, Stranger!
