Data refresh only of an eBS environment.

Dear

I am looking for a way to refresh an environment, used for production support only, faster than the usual clone (apps + db tier) which takes around 2 days now.

Can we refresh a non-production environment via the DB tier only, if the production and non-production environment have exactly the same patch level (which i understood is a prerequisite)?

Does anyone have experience with this?  What was the time needed for a data-only refresh?
