Active database duplicate system performance impact

Hello,

I am trying to implement active database duplicate in my environment but everyone in my enviroment is saying that this method will impact performance of the source database, Could you please answer below questions?

  1. Will there be impact on whole duplicate time on source database?
  2. Will there be more network traffic between source and target database? (both are in same datacenter)
  3. Will it not allow to use until clause to perform duplicate?
  4. We have separate network for taking backup, if I use that network for duplicate, still will there any impact on IO in the source database? Or database backup process and active duplicate process also take same resource?
