Change GL coding combination for Major and Minor categories in a subledger

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to do the following. I have to change a general ledger's coding combination for the major and minor categories that are in a subledger. From my research, all I can find is that you can not change it for an asset, however, this is different from what I am trying to achieve as I want to change the combination at the ledger levels. Not sure how to proceed, any help would be much appreciated.
