Can I change an UOM conversion if I have already received against it?

If I found an error in the UOM conversion, can I change it going forward? I get a message when I go to save the change that says it will cause severe data corruption. But if the UOM conversion is only used for receipts and will NOT be transacted in a different UOM from the primary UOM in inventory and WIP transactions, can I not change the UOM conversion without any consequences. I know that on-hand inventory should be physically counted and adjusted to these actual counts. That should correct my on-hand balances.

Howdy, Stranger!
