Oracle RDBMS install user id - Windows

I opened an SR with Oracle requesting their opinion on the issue below:

As part of the Oracle Point of Sale implementation, we have installed Oracle 11gR2 on 40 servers (which reside in stores all over the country) along with the 12.1.0.3 Cloud Control agent. Instead of installing the software using the oracle service account, the servers were installed using various people's user id's (e.g. jdoe, bsmith, etc).  We need to understand the impact of this from a patching and supportability standpoint. Will we be able to patch if we log on as the oracle id to a server that had the RDBMS, etc installed using the id jdoe? Also, we are using
