OS root password problem for RAC database

Hi,

We have a 11gr2 RAC database running on RHEL 5 with ASM and dataguard configured.  Unfortunately the root password for one node is not working. If I change the root password from single user mode in linux, is there any possible affect on ASM/RAC configuration. I am wondering any disk permission related issue occur or not? As this is our central database I would like to get some advice from experts.

The linux guide I am going to follow: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/4/html/Step_by_Step_Guide/s1-q-and-a-root-passwd.…

I can login using another user. If there is any other way to change the root password, please share.

Howdy, Stranger!
