Why Deposits; when On account receipts can be created.

Hi

If the business requirement is that customer has to deposit a fund (say for security) which can be adjusted on closing the account after a period of time.

Same can be achieved by taking on account receipt ; why should we create deposit type invoice and receive fund against.

So basically how deposit is different from onaccount receipt; and what benefit we can achieve from deposit.
