Slow performance after upgrading from 11.2.0.2 to 12.1.0.1

Hi, we've upgrades several thousand customer DB's from 11.2 to 12.1 (Win 2k8r2 64bit).  Now we are getting numerous customers complaining about overnight jobs that use to run in 3 hours now run in 12.  Also, complaints about expdp that use to take 5 minutes now take close to 30 minutes.

In our test lab, changing the optimizer mode to 11.2 seems to resolve this issue. This means that 12.1 optimizer changes must be responsible for the increased job time.

Has anyone else had this experience?

How do you feel about changing the optimizer mode in production?

Do we really lose any 12.1 optimizer benefits by changing the optimizer mode to 11.2?
