OBIEE/Essbase Scorecard Performance and Design Concerns

Hi,

an existing solution of an OBIEE dashboard containing a KPI watchlist does not scale on an RDBMS database due to the complexity and quantity of queries generated by KPI watchlist.

an alternative suggested approach is to replace the RDBMS by Essbase to improve the perf and scalability although there are still concerns due to the following design constraints and query efficiency:

- time dimension and time series are required in OBIEE to enable scorecard trending in the KPI watchlist, therefore time series can't be modeled in the cube directly

- OBIEE does not generate efficient time series MDX queries on Essbase
