Oracle Grid Installation failing with error "CRS-2800: Cannot start resource 'ora.asm' as it is alre

Hi,

I am doing new Oracle RAC installation of version 11.2.0.3 in AIX 6.1.

This is a fresh GI installation, not upgrade.

I want to have 2 node RAC setup.

When I ran "runCluvfy.sh state -pre crsinst", It went fine other than asking 2 OS patches. The patch # are Patch IZ97457 and Patch IZ89165.

The Unix admin is telling that,

  • IZ89165 is the patch required for AIX 7.1, not for AIX 6.1
  • Z97457 is not used in the current UNix Setup.

Though I am not very much sure about that, I went ahead and started my installation.

The Grid installation was going fine. When I tried to run 'root.sh', I got the following error.
