How to correctly expand a LUN used in a zpool in Solaris 10

My DBA asked for an extension of his database file system on a zpool.

My storage admin recommends a LUN expansion.

Solaris 11 has the '-e' option of 'zpool online ... -e ...' to achieve that.

What is the most appropriate method to expand a LUN used in a zpool on Solaris 10?
