Copying Data from Excel to Planning

We recently had to deploy Firefox 17 ESR for Workspace/Planning 11.1.2.3.  We now find that pasting cell data from Excel (2010) to Planning forms does not work.  We tried a few changes to Firefox (in about:config and user.js) without relief.

Support is reiterating the Planning Admin Guide note that pasting from Planning to Excel, Planning to Planning and non-numeric data is only supported in IE.  However we are going from Excel to Planning.

Am I missing something here? Has anyone been ablle to go Excel to Planning in Firefox? In which EPM and Firefox releases?
