RMAN “delete noprompt obsolete” command progress monitoring.

We are utilizing RMAN and backups to tape of a 10.2.0.5 database, utilizing an OEM catalog database.

Here at my new company, I found that no backup information from 2006 until the present has ever been cleaned up. A simple list backup summary command took almost ½ an hour to complete.

I kicked off a “delete noprompt obsolete” command Thursday night at 6pm. It is now Sat 2:38pm.

(Q)Is there any way to estimate how much longer it will run?

(Q)What happens when I kill the session? Will it rollback?

(Q)Is there a table name that I can query to find what the backup piece names are so that I could see how many rows are left?

Howdy, Stranger!
