Reason codes during Price change/Clearance..

What is the significance for having reason code for creation price change / clearance in RPM.

What is it's meaning the SIM indicator  when we creates reason codes.

as i read in documents..reasons codes states the reasons why we are doing the price event, but why it is useful to have reason code or reason.

or there is not any specific use , it is just a number that is associated with a price event.

would be more helpful if someone explain with example.
