Oracle Software Owner, LDAP user or local user ?

In all of our current stand alone Oracle Client installations as well as full Oracle EE installations a local account exists on the dbms host (and groups dba, oper, etc. etc.)  We have many installations but we are about to re-platform over the next year or so.

Reviewing the Client installation documentation : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24325.pdf

the following is documented: (pg 13)

5 Creating Required Operating System Groups and Users

The following local operating system groups and users are required if you are

installing Oracle Database:

■ The Oracle Inventory group (typically, oinstall)

■ The Oracle software owner (typically, oracle)

Howdy, Stranger!
