unicode private use area

Hi,

one of my clients have very specific needs. In this business, he has his own "characters set". He use latin characters and some own characters. Their datas are mix of these characters. Their own characters are not in Unicode and we have to make specific fonts.

These specific characters will be in private use area, but I don't know if and how does Oracle database (11g r2) support unicode private use area.

does oracle database support unicode private use area (PUA) ?

And what about sorting, filtering data with character in PUA ? which collation/locale is applied?

Does anybody have an experience with characters in private use area ?
