Automatic Clearing for Receipts Dates parameters

Hi,

I have searched for an explanation of the parameters 'Clear Date' and 'GL Date' but couldn't find such.. Does anyone have a clear answer for what those parameters really means.

What are the consequences if those dates were not same as the system date?
