Is it possible to deploy an OVM template directly to a physical disk (SAN LUN)?

I am interested in using the OVM templates to quickly deploy our golden image across multiple XEN_PVM type machines. My quick attempts to do this have only succeeded when using virtual disks. Which is less than ideal for us, performance wise. Maybe I am missing something obvious.

I will be trying to use a template to install Oracle Linux 5 with my company's standard passwords, users and other configuration customizations (network, sudo,etc). We might even go as far as having the GI and DB homes already installed and ready to be reconfigured.

I did figure out a way to deploy to a virtual disk, attach a physical disk and then basically just "dd" all of the data from the virtual disk over to the physical disk. That just seems like an unnecessary step though.
